If you are a renter, like me, then you probably don’t have the budget to redecorate your home every season. However, there are still some great things you can do to make your apartment look fun and stylish, even if you are on a tight budget! Here are 5 tips I use to decorate my apartment during the summer!
How to choose the right light fixtures
Interior design is all about choices—from furniture to color schemes to light fixtures. If you want your apartment to look its best during summer, keep these tips in mind when choosing lighting options 1) Brighten up. During hot months, it’s tempting to turn on every overhead light and let them burn throughout the day. However, a brighter space may make you feel hotter; dimmer lights can actually make a room feel cooler because they absorb heat less than bright lights do. 2) Go green.
How to take care of your sunroom
While a sunroom is typically thought of as an outdoor room, it still needs to be taken care of. When you don’t use your sunroom in winter or when it’s too hot out, you need to close off air vents, sweep and clean any leaves that may have accumulated on your deck and consider getting a protection treatment for your flooring. As long as your interior design work is done well, you can enjoy your sunroom year-round!
How to choose the right color palette
In general, using colors that reflect natural sunlight (white, cream, etc.) is more inviting than colors that generate artificial light (yellow, red). For example, if you have a lot of natural sunlight streaming into your apartment during those long summer days then it’s probably a good idea to incorporate those colors in your design.
How to keep a clean apartment when you have pets
With pets comes mess, but that doesn’t mean you have to let your apartment become a zoo. As a pet owner, there are some things you can do to reduce and limit pet hair in your home. First, invest in an inexpensive vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Next, make sure your dog or cat is regularly groomed so they don’t shed as much. Finally, if you have any carpeting in your apartment (or home), be sure to vacuum it on a regular basis—and if possible, use an attachment with rubber teeth instead of plastic ones. The rubber teeth will help remove more hair from your carpet than plastic ones will!
